There is nothing quite as difficult as asking for help. Especially when you are used to stepping in as a “helper.” Please know, that if you are here eager to help the Carleys in whatever way you can, they are immeasurably grateful.
NEEDS
• Prayer. Grief can be a slippery trench, and while the Carley family is trusting God explicitly in this long walk Home, some valleys are harder to walk through than others. Please pray with them and for them as they trust their Heavenly Father with every aspect of this process, from crisis to completion. We know God wastes nothing—not our pain, not our weariness, not our losses, not one single trial. Join us as we stand at the foot of the cross and anticipate what our Great God will do in this messy middle between here and Home.
• Education Tools: The two older Carley kids are in the middle of college and paying their own way. Due to the pervasive nature of mold spores, all of their textbooks, computers and equipment, backpacks, school supplies, uniforms, etc. will need to be replaced. Consider “adopting” these kids and helping them replace their tools for education. A list of specific needs has been supplied here and will be updated regularly.
• Goods and Cash: There are specific financial needs as the Carleys face remediating the mold in their home, reconstruction, rental costs, and the replacement of all their housewares. In an effort to prevent excessive taxation on what the IRS would consider “taxable income,” the Carley’s have requested that those interested in assisting with this vast financial need, would consider doing so with gift cards. Gift card links have been provided below for your convenience. (Specific registries will be set up once the Carley family has a safe place to keep their belongings).
If you wish to email a gift card, it can be sent directly to mjcarley@msn.com
However, cash will be a necessity as they work to pay their mortgage and rent, among other non-good-related expenses. (To this end, as of August 20, Jodi will be starting the process of earning her real estate license so as to assist her family in meeting the financial need). If you wish to contribute in a ‘cash-donation’ manner, a GoFundMe site has been set up to that end.
